4th gen seats

are there any good write-ups on installing 4th gen seats?

I have a formula, with manual seats, and my neighbor wants to sell me 02 transam seats, drivers side is power.

The leather is certainly nicer than my cloth. is there a writeup ? on what fits what......

Re: 4th gen seats

gen 4 seats will bolt right in. just put a set in my car. only 2 wires for the power, hot and ground. my 86 camaro had power seat in it, but should be simple to wire, just make sure you use heavy gauge wire and probably a relay. gen 4 seats are way more comfortable.

No write up needed.

Unbolt and remove old seats.

Place new seats in position and bolt em down.

Step back.

Admire.

Re: 4th gen seats

the forth gen seats are a little shorter so i had to put spacers between the seats and brackets.you may not need that unless your short like me.

I have learned power seats help with that

I have 3rd and 4th gen seats for my car. They are 100% interchangable.

Re: 4th gen seats

its really quite easy, unless you have the side bolsters. They are run by an air pump under the passenger seat. You have to run power to the pump, and the air tubes under the console to the drivers seat. Of course, you can simply choose not to use the side bolsters, but I like them. If your seats were all manual, you will have to run a hot and ground wire to the power seat on the drivers side. Thats not difficult. They sure fit and feel better than the 3rd gen seats! (2000 trans am seats into 1987 IROC)

Re: 4th gen seats

Can I bolt the 4th gen power seat, (without tracK), to my 3rd gen manual seat track ?

I'm not into power seats. I just want the nice 4th gen seats on my manual tracks.

I even have the fancy manual track that tilts up & down.

Yes, fits perfectly. I placed a 4th gen manual seat onto my existing 3rd gen track. The holes are in the same spot.
