Re: 86 firebird fastback help

3rd gen f-bodies use corporate small blcoks, so your 305 is the same as camaros 305.Which is the same 305 in G bodies & other GM products.

As for the speedo. Not too sure, but in camaros its a simple swap.Provided you stick w/ mech-mech & elec-elec speedos.Converting from mechanical to electric is a little more involved.

Re: 86 firebird fastback help

Welcome to the forum!
You should ask all these questions in the general engine or carb forum, not interior.
But you won't need to ask, just search because all your 305 questions have been asked before.
I think if you read a little first you will see you re starting in the wrong direction with your motor.
There are also many threads already about swapping speedos.

Re: 86 firebird fastback help

All you need to do it pickup the 140mph pod, it will have the 8k tach as well, and just swap them over, totally plug and play.

To do it right, you need to swap the odometers between the two pods so the milage stays the same.
It all unbolts with basic hand tools.

Re: 86 firebird fastback help

there are no aftermarket gauges to direct fit in the car (firebird). Used to be some digital setups, but they are long gone.
