Questions on shift boot?

So I'm having a hard time finding a suitable leather or leather like shift boot for my 89 iroc. So I have an idea but need someone who either has a 4th gen camaro or 4th gen camaro interior. Can someone measure the length and width of the hole in the console. I'm wondering if I can use the newer shift boot in an older car and it still look ok.

Re: Questions on shift boot?

Any upholstery shop can make you one. There are also a million on ebay and most of the vendors can customize it to fit your interests.

The local upholstery shop in my area does crap work, And I've done the eBay search. I may have found a descent replacement, but there is also a lot of crap there too. I also like the look of the stitching on the later shift boots.

That looks to much like this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-82-to-92...aa2cab&vxp=mtr

And we all saw a few post up how that turned out unless someone can show me a hawks boot installed? Anyone? Or anyone get those measurements on the 4th gen boot size?

Here is the pleather shift boot that came with my Hawks reproduction shift plate. The only reason its slightly bunched up is because I have a short shifter.

Its pretty decent. But I am replacing it with a boot that matches my seats and is short enough for my shifter. It is from Ron at JJ Custom interior. He still has my old one and could probably make one for you if you are stock height. I supplied the leather by the way, and its not feasible to buy a hide just for a boot. Re: Questions on shift boot?

You can make the $20 ebay one look decent if you install it right. You can't use the holes they provide as they give you way too much material. And you also need to fold over the top with either thread or a zip tie holding it in place. I have a short shifter and this is what it looks like. It's a bit dirty but you get the point. It isn't perfect and probably could be made better with a little more work. But it was good enough for me.

And yes I need a new shift ****...

I'm not stock length. I installed pro 5.0 shifter. Is the boot that came with the reproduction plate still in one piece or did he cut it up to get get sizes when making your new boot. If still in one piece ill buy it off ya

I suspect it has been cut up. But I will ask.
