Seat Belt Guides/ Escutcheon Questions
Hey I recently bought a pair of seatbelt guides on ebay for 10.00$ and was wondering if you need the escutcheon ( i think you do ) or not. Also, how do the guides stay on the seat? Thanks!

If its a FireBird ,I would use the escutcheon,it will only pull on the headliner and ruin it.Again if it's a Firebird, the seat guides attach to the headrest with Two screws.Like this.

Re: Seat Belt Guides/ Escutcheon Questions
Um, question? How does one get those things OFF of the belt? The belts in the 87 didn't have any, period. I have a pair of black ones now that the passenger's side has it (I keep having to reattach it to the retractor to keep it out of the way), but the driver's side is missing it. They're one piece, no way to slip the belt out, right? So I'd have to cut one (or 2, probably get a red pair or something)?
I mean the guides on the headliner... I have plenty of seat back loops, in at least 3 colors

Re: Seat Belt Guides/ Escutcheon Questions
The upper rear factory plastic trim pieces are put on thru the belt. IDK but in another thread a year or so ago, someone mentioned a piece snaps onto the mechanism, then the trim piece snaps onto that. So IDK about that piece, ours didn't have them, just the trim.Piece
Hope someone can clarify that!!??!!
The trim piece can be bought aftermarket that has a slot to slip the belt into.
Again, I forget who has them-- maybe Hawksthirdgen, Ricks, Moderndaymuscle???
..
If yours doesn't stay in place, look for busted tabs..

Re: Seat Belt Guides/ Escutcheon Questions
To get ours off, I cut them just using a hacksaw blade. Ours had busted tabs & would always fall.
If your tabs are busted, carefully pull it down, & VERY CAREFULLY cut a slot to slip the belt belt out.
OR disassemble the belt & slide it off.
If I can find where to get the trim I'll post the link.

Re: Seat Belt Guides/ Escutcheon Questions
The passenger's side had the problem that the metal retainer tabs (on the retractor housing) were bent. I took and separated the housing (those retainer tabs were bent as well
) and straightened the tabs so the guide loop stays in place now. But I still haven't figured out how whomever got the driver's side loop off, or why (bought the belts used from a guy on here). Must have broke at some point, I guess.

Here's the link--
IMHO, please read the entire thread, there are a couple good points brought up. There are a few pics of the trim pieces with the slots made into them.
