HUGE PROBLEM WITH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ON A 1992 CAMARO 305 TBI
I just recently bought a 1992 camaro RS with a 305 TBI Engine. When I bought the car the rpm gauge didn't work. Guy said it needed a cluster wich he included one in the car... About a week later the speedometer part of the cluster didn't work. It just stayed at 0MPH like the tach did a 0RPM so I just pushed on the face of the cluster and the speedometer came to life again (so is it just loose wires on the cluster?) and last night the oil psi gauge reads all the way past 60 until the car warms up then it comes down. but when i accelerate it goes up past 60 like theres no tension in the gauge itself. the engine is fine, Its not blown or anything, the oil is good. So could that be the cluster too? And could someone list instructions on how to remove and re connect the instrument cluster. I'm going to try the one he gave me with the car. I couldn't figure out how to get the **** off of the headlight switch to pull the front trim panel off??? Please help
Thanks

I pulled mine off my bird pretty easy.
You have to feel around there are about 25 (thousand) screws you have to take out. Remove all the screws until the parts are loose. Just tug gently and search for the hiding ones. Once they are all out - comes off easy. You may have to go as far over as the passenger side and remove pieces there.
Not sure if the **** needs to come off, that whole unit should pop out once screws are off.
There is just 1 plug harness in the back of the cluster, sounds like its loose. Or you have a dirty/bad ground somewhere.
If your cluster is bad, I have one out of an 88 trans am.

I got a 1992 Camaro. The clusters are different. So the Set up is a bit different. On my car the front bezel is around the headlight switch so i'm fu*ked

On the bottom of the headlight switch, there is a very tiny button. You need to take a screwdriver and push that button in and then pull on the headlight **** at the same time. It should release and pull out.
It sounds like your cluster is not properly seated into the 2 main connectors behind it. Either that, or the gauges themselves are not seated into connectors inside the cluster.

That or corrosion on the contacts. The back of the cluster has a printed circuit board. It is basically laminated copper with bare areas in the spots it makes connections. It sounds as if your problem is where it connects to the dash board. You need to clean the printed board in this area of corrosion.
