New Leather Hides
Sooooo... my '91 Trans Am GTA is currently in the process of getting a complete makeover. It's currently in the body shop getting a new black paint job, and I'll start on the interior as soon as I get the car back... hopefully in the next 3 weeks. The current interior color is black. I love black interiors, but I also have a very deep passion for black cars with tan interior. Needless to say, I'm changing the interior in my car to '88 - '91 Beechwood tan.
I purchased all of the plastic panels and seats needed for this transformation over a year ago. I've already purchased brand new carpets, and I just received my new leather skins from Katzkin. I'll start shopping around next week for a quality upholstery shop to do the leather swap for me. Anyhoooo... here's a crappy photo I took of them a little while ago.

Taking off the old and putting new covers on is easy ......you need hog rings and hog pliers..eastwood should have them....Where I work we did all the new 2010/2011 and some of the 2012 jeep wranglers..all the seat covers came from Katzkin ...it was all part of the Mopar up greads that we use to do.... great product...When I get to that point that's where I'm getting mine from.....and lots of tv shows have had step by step to show how its done...The best I seen was Stacy David's gears...They put katzkin in a new dodge truck... They're pretty much all the same to put in....I my self have only done this a few times....
But how much was the Katzkin seat covers for your car??????

Re: New Leather Hides
Thank you, sir.
I would do the job myself, but I don't have the patience or the time to tackle anything like that. Another reason why I'd rather let a pro handle this is, unlike the new seats you were working with, foam may need to be added in certain areas to make the leather have a tight factory fit since the seats I'm working with are pretty old in comparison to factory new seats. I paid $950 for my set.

Re: New Leather Hides
True the jeeps have maybe 1 mile on them...at work I drive a lift 6 days a week..I have only helped at work for the curiosity....I had a car back in the day... with power seats...I found better looking seats in the junk yard...( not power ) ...so I changed them around...and I have worked in a upholstery shop called ev's hear in Toledo....
But good luck they do look good ...and $950 ..I would pay that...not to bad..

Carlos, that color combo will be awesome. Looking forward to seeing pics of the work in progress.
BTW, was that your 97 I saw posted somewhere on TGO a few days ago? Cannot remember which thread it was, but it is a heck of a badass car. Needless to say I had to start checking prices on Craig's List - LOL

This is my girl, 'Raven'. I purchased her brand new back in 1997.

Nice, I like the leather. Fair price for leather, the set I was eyeing up was $1300, has the GTA embroidered on headrest ...
Please post some pics when done.
These were the ones I saw.

Dunno yet - still thinking about it.
Theres really no tears in my cloth seats, just a bit faded. Still on the fence, need other things before seats covers. Can't wait though.
