Dash Problems.

Hello all, i am having a few electrical problems with my 86 iroc. I noticed it a while ago with out knowing it was a problem. I was riding down the road one day and i could hear this rattling / buzzing sound coming from my dash. At the time i didn't have time to check it out and it soon faded before i got to where i was going. So life went on, until i tried having my radio on. It worked well for about 20 mins, then it started to cut out and crackle and that same buzzing and rattle came back. Now as i am replacing lights in my cluster with leds, i noticed if i turn my light **** to dim or brighten the lights they do not do that. They will either be on, or go out all together. Now if i mess with it i can get the lights to flicker and that same buzzing sound comes back. If it buzzes for to long it turns into a higher pitched squeal. I turn it off because i am afraid of a relay catching fire or something. Does anyone have any clue what this can be? I would like to fix it while i have my whole dash torn apart. Thanks everyone!

Based on what you are describing, I would first look to the headlight switch. Sounds like the reostat has pooped out.

I will check the switch out, but the sound comes from the middle of the dash, towards the radio.

I dont know the (name ) for the box but if you look just to the rt of the steering column where the column mount is ,you will see a black box about 2 inches to the rt of the column . about 4"x4" x1" thick (roughly) just pull it out the plug is mounted the box just sticks out and is held in place by the plug.
