My new seats

I have been looking for high back front seats for a very long time. I even started a thread asking what other cars seats would fit. So today I was driving buy and spotted the top half of a Camaro seat in the back of some guys truck along with junk he was taking to the dump. I wet up to the house and asked about the seats. He said that they came out of a Camaro but did not know what year. He said take them if you want them. SCORE.
Not a tear in them and they even match my gray interior.
The rails don't fit on my existing floor studs so Ill have to build a mounting bracket unless theres a easer way.

Re: My new seats

They look very good for free. Try the stock seat brackets-they might work with very little fabing.

That's a really good deal. I don't ever run across finds like that.

Re: My new seats

I pulled out the old passenger seat and looked for anything that could be done in order to mount the new seat. They are different in “allot” of ways but I put one in the car with the existing brackets to get a feel and check the fit.

When I tried to get in using the same way I always do I could barely tuck my head in and setting in it I was much taller than the old ones and even though I was in the passenger seat I could see that the steering wheel would be touching my leg with the tilt all the way down. After slicing my hand open while messing with the tracks I called it a day and put the seats aside and marked them for sale because there was no way to get them to fit.

Side note = My self and a neighbor that is accustom to building/fabrication items looked at every single way of making them fit with no luck, the bottom of the seats configuration and the floor with its small hump and its rail mounting point are just to different to make them fit even using the rails from my old seats. I beleave these seat came out of a different car other than a 4th gen Camaro/Firebird.Thats the only thing I can think of.

Re: My new seats

As long as we are talking about seats, I have a question that I am trying to figure out. I am still haven't received my 10 point roll cage as of now but would like to use my exisiting seats as they look like new.
Can I use a 5 point harness on Low Back seats which aren't like yours. I was thinking they can fit right around the adjustable head rest..

Re: My new seats

Saw these on CL and thought about picking them up but I have a tan interior. I have had 2 sets of 4th gen seats and these are not factory 4th gen seats.

Re: My new seats
