Steering wheel

The leather wrapping on my steering wheel was starting to come off. So, I got bored and started picking at it. Now all the leather wrapping is gone, and my steering is a big fuzzy, rust colored mess. What can I do to kinda clean it up and make it half way presentable without spending a fortune on new leather wrapping? thanx in advance.

Junk yard replacement? From what I've seen recovering is pretty outrageous like you mentioned. You might try talking to some local upholstery shops in the area see if they will give you a quote on the job.

No you dont want to see. I have the cheap cover, but it still looks like poop. Never seen a UK3 wheel in the junkyard.

Re: Steering wheel

the PO of my car wrapped it in electrical tape.. I wouldn't recommend it unless you plan to get a new wheel before summer hits.

Re: Steering wheel

Too late.

I just refinished my wheel in the TA. It was looking rough, price a refurb at like $375 plus shipping.

Bought the Leatherique refinish kit for $32 w/ship'g., another $20 for leather cleaner and rejuvinating oil, another $5 for 600 grit wet sand paper.

Was pretty easy, just time consuming. Did it in the car, wheel wasn't coming off too easy, came out nice. Few blemishes - It'll hold me over for now.

Before and after. BTW, all the other bad things were fixed, dash pad, shift ****, rust at ttop ...
