Re: 1987 GTA door panels
Those aren't GTA door panels, those are just typical door panels that have the larger armrest that goes up and connects in front of the lock/unlock buttons. Can see the hole in the picture. Unless the kid put the correct bracket for a GTA arm rest but installed a non GTA panel. I could see that causing fitment issues as well.

Re: 1987 GTA door panels
The bracket on the door is completely different. If you find a set of GTA door panels then they will work with the bracket. If you like those ones you will have to find a camaro bracket and put it on
Re: 1987 GTA door panels

On that door belongs with door panels of
A gta... But not sure what the gta panels

Re: 1987 GTA door panels
IIRC, the correct door panels for your car were ONLY found on 1987-89 Trans Am's and GTA's. Even the base model Firebirds and Formulas from those years had the cheaper looking door panels (similar to the ones you got at the JY).
If you want correct door panels, you're only going to find them in a 1987-89 T/A or GTA.
See here for example http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pontiac-Trans-Am-GTA-1987-pontiac-trans-am-gta-super-clean-must-look-66000-miles-/281138536449?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item417529a001&vxp=mtr#ht_739wt_1167

:edit: 6SIX6, would you be willing to sell the covers for the door handle screws (the gray caps, not the Bird ones in the latch handle surround) and the triangular parts at the top of the pull handles?

Re: 1987 GTA door panels
WRONG... My BASE MODEL Firebird had the GTA door panels and seats (now my IROC has them). And I've seen other NON-GTA Birds in the yards that have them as well (one had MANUAL WINDOWS and no pockets due to the crank). They were optional except on the higher end cars.

Must have been a rare option, I looked at several cars before posting, and they all had the standard door panels.
I really wish they'd make a Firebird White Book so we could see just how many they made...unfortunately the Red Book doesn't list production numbers, and Compnine is no help either since they don't go back that far.
