Dome light won't work, when passenger door is open
Hi all,
I have a 1987 IROC and when I open my passenger door my dome light won't come on. The driver side works fine. I know there's switch coming out that the door pushes off and onto, but I wasn't sure what to look for or how to remove and what to check for. Please any help would be well appreciated.
Thanks,
Shane

If you look at the forward part of the door jam you will see a small metal post that is the switch. You should look to make sure that the wire is still connected to the back. Also look for any rusting/corrosion on the switch and car where it attaches. It gets it's ground from where it is bolted to the car so it won't work if it corroded. If it all looks good the switch itself probably went bad.

Nova,
How do I remove the small metal post and once removed if the wire is missing, where would it be?

Side Panel (15) Has To Be Removed To Access The Switch.

The post itself just unscrews from the door frame. It just takes a wrench or socket to get it out. When I did mine i didn't have to remove that inside panel because my wire was long enough to pull out through the hole and disconnect it.
