Lucky Dash Pad Find

Nothing too important, just wanted to say during a Junkyard run in Michigan, I got a nearly mint dashpad for 10 bucks. What a deal.

Re: Lucky Dash Pad Find

Yes, mine started out as a small crack in winter, then got big. This was a great find in consideration. 10 dollars is nothing for a dash pad in this condition.

Re: Lucky Dash Pad Find

I recently didn't buy one for 70 and semi-regret it. so 10 bucks is a steal. i ran a dash mat so it wasn't high priority.

Re: Lucky Dash Pad Find

This was a big improvement over mine. The yard I got it from has all pieces for ridiculously cheap. I got the whole front end, foglights, headlights, driving lights, nosecone and bottom ground effect for 38 dollars. So I spent 50 dollars on all high quality parts. Lol. Here was the original dash pad.

Compared to the new one

Sorry for the cruddy pictures. Phone is all I have for a Camera right now.

You know, I was thinking of taking the speedo out of it too. It was a 92. I drive an 89. How hard would that swap be?

Re: Lucky Dash Pad Find

You guys with your cheap junkyard finds are terrible. Alaska yards are ridiculously expensive.

Wow. Good score at Ryan's. I was just there 3 weeks ago looking for a 4th gen console and couldn't find anything but a stripped out sport coupe. Did find a pink 58 Deville in pretty good shape, oddly enough.

Re: Lucky Dash Pad Find

I have been keeping mine locked away under covers for the last 21 years.
with under 51.000 miles on it. the car still smells new.. and this is the 3rd eng.

just a drag car show car...

I see the pads from time to time in the yards in my city..
always going to them to get parts to get plated..

never paid more then $10 for anything

I got the same 145 mph guage cluster for 25.00. So I was considering the swap. It wouldnt be a hard swap per se but you would need to get the interior wiring harness with it. The only mount location that is different is the top by the windshield. That could likely be just bent up to the same location as the 90-92 style dash.

Since we are talking about yard finds......Ive gotten a lot of things, most just everyday stuff but after years of searching I finally got a near mint pad for my Camaro. It has two small hairline cracks on the passenger side corner. Ive already put very liberal coats of vinyl protectant on it and stored it in my basement. I also got a mint 90-92 Z28 high rise spoiler for $35.

Re: Lucky Dash Pad Find

I bought a mint dashpad from a guy I met at a car show named Earl. He loves Thirdgen camaros. He said I could have it for $20. He delivered it to me two weeks later and I gave him $60 and still felt like I stole it. He tried to refuse the extra money. Prior to this one I did manage to pick a pad with one crack for free from junk yard and another one with a glue stain and a nick out of the front edge for $30 both of those were an improvement to the one that was original to the car. Picture of Earl's pad in car. Thanks again Earl.
