Turn signal lever replacement

Electrically there's nothing wrong with my turn signal switch / lever, but the plastic part itself is broken and has been held together by duct tape for years now.
It's time to replace it. But how?

I've heard replacing the turn signal switch is a major pain in the neck, having to disassemble the steering wheel column etc.
But I only need to replace the plastic lever.
I've heard rumors that you can pull it off just as it sits, but I wouldn't try it out.

Help - Steering Column Repair Kit Install

I bought this kit after my car was broken into (before I bought it).

I'm using these videos as a guide.
NOTE: In video 2 @1:04 (Attached Photo 1). I need the part number for that electrode, mine is missing, also what does it do.
NOTE: In video 3 @0:16 (Attached Photo 2). The slide gear that comes out (also in the repair kit). I just found out I need the rod that this grabs, to start the car. This rod actually goes deeper into the column.
I believe this is something like what I need.
Lastly, I need to remove the turn signal lever and mechanism around the column to install new housing.

I'll update as I mess with it. Thanks guys.
