Tracking down a 145mph speedometer
Greetings all,
I'm trying to find the illusive 145mph speedometer for my 84 Camaro Z/28. Can anyone give me some good information on it as far as what cars they put it into so I know what to ask for when I start calling around junk yards? Or someone trying to unload one or know someone that is? I'd really like to get my dash back together (it torn apart breaks my heart every time I look at it) and the new fancy gauge clusters just aren't in my budget at all. Thanks!

91-92 use different gauges than 84 & there is no 145 option for 84 models anyway. There was an optional 140 (82-84) w/ the z28 logo about where the 145 is on the later (pre 91) iroc models.

Since the trip odometer will probably be broken, you might wish to take a look at the fix:

I'd also recommend cleaning the cable and its housing as detailed below:

Re: Tracking down a 145mph speedometer
IIRC, some 86 to 89 cars were so equipped. These speedos are mechanical, BTW (as are all 82-89 speedos). To avoid any electrical issues, I'd recommend swapping in the speedo head only.

Thanks for the heads up on the odometer fix. I wasn't even aware that was an issue. As far as the cable goes, I'm doing an LS swap so I had to get a different set up for that anyway.
