b&m shifter???

Okay this may be a dumb question... but here it goes. I have a 85 trans am. I have decided to go with a quick silver b&m shifter. I have been going over old threads on how to install and I have been reading instructions on installing it. The only thing I am still wonder about as far as install is... is it possible to get the b&m shifter to be with flush with the factory shifter center console plate.. or is it possible to get the b&m shifter to pop out of the factory center console shifter plate??? I hope that makes sense to you all. I ask this becase some pics I see of the b&m quick silver shifter installed in our cars the shifter sinks into the factory center console shifter plate where it doesn't sit flush with the surface so when you look into the car it isn't appealing and it would probably be a little difficult to look down inside the factory center console plate at the b&m shift indicator? ?? Thanks for all the answers in advanced

Since the Quicksilver is a cable operated shifter, it should be possible to use shims/spacers under the mounting points to raise the shifter up to where you want it to be.
It will obviously take trial and error, but you should be able to et things how you want them.

I appreciate the response. Since I have done more research I learned that the b&m megashifter is specialty designed to fit our cars without major modifications and your still able to use the stock center console. So I have decided to go that route

I have the B&M Megashifter console kit in mine...easy to install and it looks like a factory install...minus the ratchet handle. Love how well it worked out.

I was going to bring the console Megashifter up, but I figured you had already found it through your research and were going with the Quicksilver for personal preference.

At any rate, you will like the Megashifter.
