Overhead Console Flashlight Bulb Part Number From Batteries + Bulbs Store

I got my overhead console Firebird flashlight working today.

I took it to Batteries + Bulbs to see if they had a bulb. They did.

Luckily I ran into a fantastic store manager that knew his stuff and was willing to examine it to get it working again for no charge. He took a dremel grinding tool and removed 30 years of gunk from the copper terminals where the batteries connect and in about 10 minutes voila the thing worked like it was 1985 again. . I had no idea they had tools to work on minor electrical stuff in there.

If you need a bulb for your overhead console flashlight (those of you lucky enough to have one in your possession) the part number is MIN10786 from Batteries + Bulbs (formerly Batteries Plus).

http://www.batteriesplus.com/product...-MIN10786.aspx

The 1W bulb is $3.99 + tax. I have to give this store #878 in Orlando, FL and Manager Will props.

So for $4.25 total and 10 minutes I have an authentic working Firebird console light. A stock F body collectors item brought back to life.

It's the little victories that make me smile when I am faced with larger items to fix on my TA.

Would be nice to have an L.E.D. replacement bulb with the stock screw in type.

I did the LED swap. Very tidy and the lighting is improved dramatically.

I have my console flashlight...When I bought my car, it was the first thing I looked for in the car. It works!

I'm remaining old school with my TA. No fancy LEDs for me. I'm going all incandescent and stock.

That goes for headlights too. Halogens not halos or HID.

They didnt have LEDs in cars in 1985.

That's funny. One of the first things I checked for when I looked at my car was the flashlight in the console. Only then did I open the hood.

I am actually working on my rear hatch compartment light now. Trying to build sub box that rests below light and still allows me to stow T-Tops

Love your 84 Todd! I'm a sucker for the 82 -84 F bodies of both makes.

Just remember, stock = value.

The good old #222 bulb. My cub scout pocket-light 35 years ago used the same bulb

Re: Overhead Console Flashlight Bulb Part Number From Batteries + Bulbs Store

Just got the l.e.d. bulb. So much brighter than the old incandescent factory bulb that was in the flashlight. Btw, the original 222 bulb that was in my flashlight was made by Norelco. Funny huh..
