Re: fire extinguishers
Had a small one in my 84. Bolted to the trans tunnel right underneath the console towards the floor.
Re: fire extinguishers
i was thinking about the trans tunnel too, but i keep my 4th gen seats down most of the time because of how much they rattle around when theyre up. i was thinking above the fuel tank in back of the seats, but that might be too far for me to reach incase of an actual emergency if need be.

Mine currently sits in the passenger floorboard, it doesn't roll around or anything and eventually I'd like to mount it on the passenger side of the center console.

Re: fire extinguishers
Here are some ideas I have played around with in the past:
Mount it to the dash on the passenger side right under the dash pad overhang. This will require a little reinforcement of the area. Might be too visible of a location for some people taste.
Mount it to the trans tunnel on the passenger side. This interferes with passenger comfort but it is the classic location.
Make a bracket that will allow it to be mounted to the front of your (or passenger) seat below your legs (really close to the floor). Have it so the extinguisher moves with the seat. You will have to rig up the lever to move the seat so it is still accessible.

i was thinking also of maybe somehow on the rear drivers side sail panel. i would love to do something neat, but there isnt much room in these cars for many options lol. i remember when we put one in my brother's old 89 lifted Blazer, could have put a full size one anywhere lol

I also keep mine on the back floor board behind the passenger seat. I would like to mount it on the tunnel in between the two rear seats someday.

Re: fire extinguishers
I keep one in both of my Pontiacs. I don't mount them. I don't want to have to waste time unlatching or getting one free from a mount. They are sitting behind the driver's seat in the floor board ready for me to grab. I also leave a pair of leather work gloves next to them just in case. So far, I've only had one cause for alarm in the '89. As soon as I smelled something electrical burning, I immediately moved the fire extinguisher to the passenger front seat while I was pulling over ready to jump out and tackle anything, but it was nothing. To this day, I still don't what it was and it never came back...YET.
Ever since my friend watched his 2nd gen show car Camaro burn completely to the ground waiting on a fire truck, I keep one in both my cars. Even he said he could have most likely put it out if he had an extinguisher when he first saw smoke and a few flames, but there was nothing he could do.

Re: fire extinguishers
Since I've had my car, I've wanted to get one just in case. I wanted to put it under the passenger seat someone, kind of like what 87350IROC did, but simpler.
