curious on leather door panels
curious on leather door panels
i have a set of GTA door panels (i think thats what they're called) and the fabric is torn, the black plastic is broken on the top. I have tried to find replacement GTA door panels but they seem to be impossible to find re manufactured ones, and i'm sure if i found any they'd be crazy expensive
i'm wondering if anyone here has ever done the cloth area in leather, going to get my seats reupholstered next year maybe in leather (not sure to go gray or black, have a gray interior) and then was going to see if they could do the door panels too.

What are you wanting to know? Or were you looking for pics? If you're just going to do the cloth section, its very easy. If you're talking the whole panel, that may be fairly I would personally use vinyl over leather on the door panels (easier, cheaper) but either way is fine

I had mine done in high-end Vinyl (holds up a lot better than Leather and looks just like it) I was sold on putting leather in my car until Sue talked me into the upper end vinyl.

well i was mainly thinking of just replacing the cloth section with leather or vinyl but now i kinda wonder about doing the whole panel. and i was wondering of people's opinions and sure, if you got pics id sure like to see them

I never had it done myself but recovering that portion of the door panel in leather is definitely doable. Having the door panels match the seats makes for a nice uniform interior and would look great. I would personally go gray on the seats and gray on the door panel portion. Those black pieces on top of the panel being cracked are a common problem and new ones are available.

those all look really great. i'm starting to lean toward getting the door panel done when i get the funds to get the interior squared away next year (spent wayyyy more than i thought i was going to be spending this year on the motor build)
does anyone have any pics of the GTA deluxe door panels though?

Are you talking about these?

?
If so, no, I've not done those exact ones, but I've done some similar ones in an older mercedes. Here's a pic..

The insert comes out. It's stupid simple.

yes i am talking about those ones. i may still bring it to an upholstery shop just to have them match everything correctly. i have been trying to find leather seat upholstery sets but can only find vinyl. how much do you guys think it would run for me to get them to do this stuff in leather. normally i'd just get a quote, but i'm just toying around with the idea for next year's project.
