Power seat track rebuild...slow seats.
This procedure involves removing the 4 gear assemblies & partial teardown of the seat track. This is my 84 seat track w/ 96 t/a seats. So the switch to operate the track is on the side facing the center console. Its from a Taurus.Later tracks differ by design, some parts may be missing or not apply.

To remove the inner units.Undo the small screw & the plate to the left comes off.The two pins will slide off allowing the assemblies the pop out.The other ends use a c-clip, remove that & they're off.

Gear assembly before/during/after.Repeat 4x's.The two in the center are easy to remove. The outer two, not so much.

The 2 outer gear units require releasing the spring on each to remove. The pin on the end of the spring is flared on the other end.So you'll have to grind it down to remove it.Leave the track at its highest prior to removing from the car. This will leave the long worm screws almost all the way out.Use the flex shaft to turn them the rest of the way.I used a screw driver to hold the spring away while re-building the gear boxs.Dont allow it to slip off!

Before re-installing the outer assemblies.I began tearing down the track.Loosening this bolt on the underside allows the inner track to slid out most of the way.The brackets that hold the track covers inplace are what keeps the inner track from sliding out completely.

There's 4 guides on the inner track, long (rear), short (front).Cleaned them & the old dried/dirty grease from the track.Applied moly lube afterwards (gear assemblies too), but not very much.

Guides/track after cleaning.Carefull removing these.Mine are past their prime. The track was hard to slide manually before.Quite a bit less now & the seat moves much faster, even w/me on it.Before, very slowwwwwww.I opened up the tri-motor assembly as well, but that was very clean.Even the brushes were in great shape.Thats the gist of it, enjoy.
