Headliner board template

Hi,

I have an 1988 IROC with Cars & Custom T-Tops.

Some time ago I took the old damaged headliner out and have since lost it.

I've now bought some new foam-backed headliner material from Classic, but don't have the backing board.

Does anyone know if there is a template or drawing of the headliner board so I can make one up?

Having C&C T-Tops I figure I'll start with a hardtop layout and then cut something to suit my T-Tops.

Cheers

You should buy a regular hardtop aftermarket bare plastic board.
Test mount...............

Mark all around t-top/window/cuts..............

measure TWICE and cut carefully!

Install the new fabric
Then finish installation................

LOL!
My new headliner arrived today and is stretching out gettin'
ready for install!

Rockauto has them $90. dollars US plus shipping.

I can imagine shipping to OZ is quite $pendy!

Too bad you have the C&C tops as nobody i know make them aftermarket
as C&C just used and cut the factory hardtop headliner to fit.
I have the Fisher tops.

If a aftermaket vendor is making them somebody will chime in here.

Re: Headliner board template

The C & C T-tops seem to be a good unit. I drilled out the rivets and sent the whole unit off for powder coating when the car was being painted. Looks like new now.

Third gens are rare in Australia and there is really only one source for parts locally, who typically charges triple what you pay over there.

Shipping for small parts is not too bad, but big or heavy parts are a killer.

That $90 part you listed costs $440 (USD 350) here.

Re: Headliner board template

Man that's going to suck. Any chance you could find a salvageable original foam hardtop headliner and modify that? Even if it's a little rough, you could coat it in epoxy and maybe some fiberglass.
I also have a C&C. I never thought of removing it to get powder coated. That might not be a bad idea when I get the car repainted next year. I'm about to do the abs headliner thing myself. I was thinking of doing a little shaping of the abs with a heatgun after I make the cutouts to make it blend better.

Any pics of your C&C taken apart?

Peter............
Your better off getting a piece of luan (1/8 inch or less light plywood board)
rough cutting it then test install and mark the openings.
Cut and trim to final fit.
Then recover with the material you bought.

Cost of the Luan board in US.......$18 US.
