Interior transformation

Hi so recently bought this 1988 trans am gta. I saw this sitting in the back of my uncles for years and I just turned 17 and though why is a car like this sitting back there wasting away so I bought it off him hoping to return it to its former glory. Here are some pics of it when I got it

I knew this would be a project but I was prepared for it because ever since I was young I loved trans ams and this was like a gold mine to me!! So I started right away. I wanted mine to be a bit more unique so I went for the beechwood(camel)/ jet black interior. The first thing I did was repainted all my plastics in sem 15713 camel paint. The got a console, my dad actually had a dash pad for this car in his garage, and took off all the dash peices and redid them In jet black. So after all that, the seats and carpet deep cleaned this is the result

The steering wheel is actually just temporary. I am getting this one for my car soon.

I am not done yet. My plan is to buy a new headliner, saik panels, and sunvisors from hawks( awaiting on some samples )

I also want to get a new cognac carpet and leather beechwood seat covers.

I'll defiantly keep updated on any upgrades I make to the interior

Thank you the interior is just a small step but still important. I am as well going to get it repainted and all of that.

Re: Interior transformation

WOW, nicely done! Only thing I don't care for are the aftermarket steering wheels, although that one on eBay would look okay if all the polished stuff were painted satin black.

Re: Interior transformation

I'm not sure how much of that interior is bad as much as it is just incredibly filthy. If you worked to remove the dirt and stains it might look good again and not have to spend a lot of money on new parts. Be careful though, you don't want headliner and seats to get very wet in the process of cleaning.

Thank you and me too I hate the steering wheel that is on there now. It doesn't go with the car at all. I always loved the look of the 70s trans am steering wheels And I didn't even think about that! Painting the polished metal satin black would actually look amazing. Thanks for the idea!!

Well actually a lot of the interior was missing! The seat belt covers were all crack (like usual lol) it was missing the seat belt strap trim on the headliner, the headliner plastic trim by the trunk was all cracked. It was missing the door panel trim, the dash pad( which luckily my dad had one, because they are expensive ) the dash glove pouch was gone. Basically all of the console peices were gone except the area where the radio and heater go was in the trunk. It seemed in pretty bad shape haha. I had to visit a ton of junk yards to try to find those peices and most I couldn't find.

Re: Interior transformation

Thanks guys, yea it's a lot of hard work and a lot of research to make sure what I'm doing is the right things. Right now I'm working on the painting, sanding, installation of the wing, rim cleaning, engine detailing, but that's all exterior so this wouldn't be the right thread to talk about this in haha.

thank you! And sadly no I had a lot going on with school and getting ready for college and didn’t have the time or money to put into the car but just recently I started working on it again and am hoping to have it show worthy by summer!
