Yes, I just bought this car and am going to redo it slowly (project car) question... the slider is broke. So I want to replace it. Is this wooden look something aftermarket? All i can find are the plain black ones and they only seem to sell the whole center instead of just the slider. Is that right? This is a Z-28 Im assuming what they call a G-92 version??? Does the wood just screw off of this and onto another? I cant really tell if factory or not just looking at it. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
You will have to buy a complete used shift plate and cut both yours and the new used one apart to put a new slide in. The units are glued together and no one sells just the slider part.
Even looking at the ones i see online, I cant find the same pattern as the one in this car
The kit in your car would be called Burl wood. The wood kits never caught on really, and if you notice Classic's listings for the two types they have are on closeout. Finding a burl wood kit now probably isn't easy, but 15 years ago they were as close as the parts catalog.
If you like it, or tolerate it, I'd leave it alone. There's a chance a person could lightly heat it with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive, and peel them off. But there's also a chance the stickum is permanently stuck, and trying to remove it might cause more damage.
