Any tips for getting these freaking push nuts to stay In place? Trying to press on the door sweep to get the pin as far through the hole as I can so the lock nut gets a bite but no damn way. There just doesn’t seem to be enough length on the pin to get the nut to grab.
Any suggestions ?
I figured there had to be some type of tool, so no not using it and the new pieces didn’t come with the proper tool.
I will just use a hammer and tap them on
From looking at my 84s factory panels the washer is slipped on the plastic
stud over the attached doorpanel and the plastic stud is melted down
over the washer and panel holding it in place.
I wonder if thats the way this should be done that way with this
replacement panel?
YA I’ll make something up tomorrow. After I posted that I would hammer it, I took a second thought and said naaa that’s how ya wreck ****!
I’ll Probably drill a hole in an Allen key. And also my young fella has some wrenches for his RC Cars for the wheel nuts. I’ll see if one of those fit!

Weird. My 83 was exactly the same as my 91s. In fact the door panel moldings from the 83 are currently on my 87.
Ended up drilling a hole in the end of an Allen key. It got the job done but would have been nice to have that snap on tool for sure.
Now the Car goes to storage tomorrow .
I always use simple pliers. ( nose down, handle up)
The first bite is always the "hardest" part,.... sometimes they scratch up the door card a little as I first start to turn the nuts but I'm careful so damage is always minimal. It's pretty common to snap a stud or 2 while removing the original upper plastic from a pair of door cards - no matter what tool is used. I'm guessing that new upper door trim plastic panels might be a bit more 'forgiving' !
