Hello everyone. Now that my car has arrived I'm starting the fun process of going through it and checking everything it needs (or that I would simply like to do). Like many, the interior is an area of focus that needs some attention. A couple of the switches on my dash aren't working. The trunk release and defogger. I was looking at a few places and don't see these. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if those are reproduced by anyone? The gain button and radio steering wheel controls aalso doesn't work, but I think that's because the car doesn't have the correct radio in it. The pic below shows the poor condition. I'm not aware of anyone reproducing those switches,keep an eye out on ebay or on this site for NOS. I scored a few NOS switches on TGO.a few months ago.

Just keep in mind that just because the switch looks ugly doesn't mean that is what is not letting it work. The hatch release only works when the Parking brake is set. There is a safety switch on it so you cant do while driving. There is also the relay back at the hatch. Cant trust looks bad to fix problem. Same with defrost there is a relay somewhere. Dont remember where at but still the same need to troubleshoot a bit to make sure you also fix the problem not just the ugly. The defrost buttons sit weird because one of the mount tabs is broken you might be able to take bezel off and epoxy/glue back together. That is all I did for mine when one broke. Easier than finding a nice one sometimes.

 

Thank you nova983...admittedly forgot about the safety feature with the parking brake. But it didn't work so maybe i should look into the relay. It opens with the key, but not the button. With the defroster button also not working I tend to think it must be something in the dash.
