I would start with a factory tech manual for your year. You can get them used off eBay very affordably now. I have been getting them in the $20-45 range, that is if you can't find it uploaded to the internet somewhere already. You can also get new re-prints from Helm Inc, at a higher cost.

Re: 1987 digital dash need help
I love mine. When I had my 88 GTA I bought one new from Helm and I referenced it all the time. Now that I am making wiring harnesses, I refer to them frequently. I have quite a few now

Someone gave me a copy of Alldata, that's not really great or complete either. The factory manual is the best

Re: 1987 digital dash need help
i swicthed out the eprom with the original one.i had a hyperteck in it , to realize it was bad in 2009 not knowing thats probably what fixed it last time.when i put the hyper chip in it.i had replaced everything last time including sending the dash out to be repaired. so i really didn't know what had been wrong the first time this happened. ill have to find another one before i know if it works.next question would be is it normal for this to happen or am i doing something that blows them.like i said I've had the car since 1988, been 30 yrs.

Re: 1987 digital dash need help
can you clarify, is the eprom he's, talking about the small chip on the circuit board behind the miles in dash

Re: 1987 digital dash need help
I'm talking about the EEPROM that holds the mileage, see here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...o-86-88-a.html
It's the integrated circuit under that cage on the odometer PCB. Of course, when switching that chip for a new one you'll need to program it with a correct mileage - described in the thread I mentioned.
Here's an image from my digital dash swap thread, don't mind the arrows, it's all about that chip under the plastic frame to the right of the PCB connector

Re: 1987 digital dash need help
i got the chip you sent odometer working .thank you. I'm still haven't got a reading for the speed. when i turn the key on or start the car .it should cycle from 0 to 188 back to 0. not showing anything.the back light is lit up ,no numbers. if the speed sensor or the speed buffer is bad would that give the no reading . or is there something else i should look at . thanks for any reply,
