Mine is dim but it doesn't seem like there is more than one bulb location inside...

 

Haven't looked closely at the Camaro part in about 20 years, but the later Firebirds have three bulbs. FWIW.

 

Yeah, the two have slightly different faceplates and *****, but the Camaro one only has 1spot for a bulb where the Firebird ones have three smaller ones. Otherwise identical

 

I put an extra in mine (by the dial) to make up for the dim left side, but yeah only one on the camaro vs 3 for the FB....damn it!

 

Great idea! did you cut a socket hole, like OE? Used a Dremel ?

All the thirdgens I’ve owned were like that... Even back in the day my friends were like that too..

Always bugged me too but I think that’s how they are.. Compared to newer cars the instrument lighting is so antiquated..

Driving the IROC at night I forgot what old non backlit gauges looked like... Reminded me of 60s and 70s cars..

 

I drilled a hole and hot glued the socket from a t/a Hvac to the camaros.
Looks like this.

 

Because Pontiac was better in every measurable way.
