Hatch and Battery Issues
I have a 1992 RS Camaro, it has had a parasitic draw on the battery from the day I got it. I unplugged the hatch switch in the center console along with the windows and a couple grounds under the dashboard while taking the carpet out. I noticed after coming back to the car a week later that the battery did not die. I am guessing that it had to do with the hatch switch being unplugged but I am not 100% sure. That switch has never done anything although there is a motor I think where the hatch connects. When I slide that switch nothing happens. In order to close and open the trunk, I have to use the key and when I close it, I have to slam it really hard in order to get it to close. I am wondering if there is a hatch motor and if it is causing the issue of the battery draining in my car even though I have never gotten it to work. Any help is appreciated and I can provide pictures tomorrow.

Re: Hatch and Battery Issues
I just recently R&R'ed my hatch pull down to clean and re-lube the motor and gear box. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will show up.
You definitely need to fix the hatch pull down because I don't think it's good practice to be slamming it down.
Parasitic draw; you should first make sure the battery is capable of holding a charge and that the charging system is able to do its thing. Then look for the potential parasitic draw.
If it is the release or hatch pull down (the motor with the latch in the retracted position doesn't see power) the attachments might help. Sorry the schematics aren't in color like they are in the FSM.
On the latch, there's a small tab that activates a switch that powers the motor that raises/lowers the pull down.

Do the release and hatch electrical checks before removing the pull down to get at the motor.
Edit: It occurred to me that the pull down might have changed around '90 or '91? I don't think this would effect the electrical diagnostics any but one never can be sure.
