WheelSkins cover using cross and back stitches

Just completed an install of a WheelSkins EuroTone steering wheel cover. Instead of using the included thread, I purchased some dark green from amazon and used a cross stitch and back stitch instead of the whip stitch. I made a few boo-boos, but over all, I'm pretty pleased. I have a black and gray interior and the charcoal and black WheelSkin is a very good match. I used dark green thread because I hope to paint the care black forest green in the future and I thought it would be a nice accent.

Taking the wheel off the car was key. I've installed these before on another vehicle and it was much easier with the wheel off.

Re: WheelSkins cover using cross and back stitches

I have installed a few w/ the wheel mounted. How did you hold the wheel, installing the skin, wheel off?

Re: WheelSkins cover using cross and back stitches

I found this position with wheel wedged against the table worked best.

Work looks nice, but not a fan on the color. Looks like mint floss stitched in there. Maybe it looks better in natural light ...
