Air Controller Switch Doesn't Cycle from Vent, Heat, Defrost, etc.
Air Controller Switch Doesn't Cycle from Vent, Heat, Defrost, etc.
When I slide the top switch from off to any of the positions (with the fan off) I hear what sounds like an air or vacuum leak. When not in AC mode all hot air comes from the defroster vents at the front windshield. It doesn't change in economy when vent is selected. The only time it comes out of the vents facing the cabin is when AC is selected. Temp slider works fine. Thinking maybe the blend door is stuck. Thoughts?

9 times out of 10, it's a bad vacuum selector valve for the HVAC. This part is long discontinued, and AFAIK, only available re-manufactured from Top Down Solutions. Unfortunately this is one of those parts that lasts about 18 months if you're lucky, then goes bad again. Poor design from the factory.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I ended up checking the part and it was leaking. To fix I ran a small bolt and nut through the center to clamp down harder as the plastic retainer was worn. Saw it on a YouTube vid. All works fine now.
