3rd Gen Seat Fitting

Has anyone done a chart or spec out what seats from different cars will fit in a 3rd Gen?
Also has anyone put 5th gen Camaro seats in a 3rd gen? LMK. Thanks.

Re: 3rd Gen Seat Fitting

I believe I've seen 5th gen seats in 3rd gens before, but they sit up VERY tall in comparison (to the point where some taller folks probably won't fit), and look ugly and out of place IMO.

As far as straight bolt-in seats, all 1982-02 Camaro/Firebird seats work with no problems, and I have heard that some 1987-94 Cavalier/Sunbird seats work too (some Sunbirds were actually equipped with GTA Ultima seats), but you may have to change the seat tracks for those.

If I am not mistaken, someone has gone thru this before and listed different seats that will fit in third gens. Search and Im sure you will find it.

Re: 3rd Gen Seat Fitting

when i bought my car last year the seats were done, see the light colored ones in the pics below. Then i found some 93 cavalier seats that were in great shape (Dark Grey in pics), all i did was swap the seat tracks. It is an exact swap.
Then i found a killer deal on some 8 way powered heated seats from a 2010 SS and couldn't pass them up. There was some modifications required to the SS seat brackets but i managed to get them in. i only have the driver side in so far, but I am 6' tall and have the seats almost all the way bottomed out, but there is still some adjustability for sure.

Re: 3rd Gen Seat Fitting

I also did the 5th gen seats in the summer of 2018 and they are a huge upgrade. They aren’t a bolt in and require some fab work to put some brackets together but I had 3rd gen original seats and then went to summit 5pt seats and picked up some 4th gen seats and before even putting them
in I found a good deal on these powered 5th gems in black cloth and snatched them up. Had them fit and powered in a weekend. The cars ride is so much better now. I still have the 4th gens sitting on a shelf.

They do sit taller but I’m 6’1” and I don’t have a problem with headroom. I think the look better than the 4th gens which look like clam shells to be and the 5th gens headsupport us perfect for me. Easy to put your head back and just cruise.

Re: 3rd Gen Seat Fitting

I just received my Corbeau RRX seats today and the brackets fit like ****. I've read about the struggles of trimming brackets and opening up mounting holes for cheaper seats, but I didn't expect this bad of a fit at this price point. As usual, the front of the bracket sits too high and I would be sitting at a undesirable angle. At a little over $1100 I now have to pull out the grinder and welder because Corbeau doesn't know how to use a effing level when measuring brackets for fabrication.

I looked at these, but I have no experience with them. The reviews sound good. I'm also thinking Corbeau.

Re: 3rd Gen Seat Fitting

I used Corbeau TRS and am very happy. I did order 4th Gen brackets rather than 3rd Gen brackets.
I hate logos, so the only way to arrive at that was to order leather. I asked if they had any "blemished" ones, so I got a discount on the passenger seat. I cannot even tell where the blemish is even though they told me where it was. I also ordered extra hide to re-do the back seats, console lid, door panel inserts - anything to help tie it all in together and flow well, rather than a cut and paste look of the seats. If you go fabric, you could still do the same.

Wow! That looks great! I'm a sucker for leather. I like how you did the doors to match. Very classy, and comfortable looking! If you don't mind me asking, how much were just the seats? My GTA doesn't have a back seat ( Too many bars in the way to get back there safely)
