4th gen blend door cable

I thought I would share what I did to adapt 4th gen climate controls into my 85 T/A. My car is a daily driver so I've been using this setup for a couple weeks now and I haven't had any problems with it.

I don't know if this will work for anyone else but this is what I started with.

Here's the final result.

In addition to the 4th gen climate control components these are the parts you'll need. I found all of these in the hardware section at Lowe's.

- 1/4-20 threaded rod
- 1/4-20 Acorn nut
- Speed nuts
- Body Screws
- 90* Angle Bracket
- Red Thread Locker

Here's how to do it.

1. Cut a 3/4" piece off the threaded rod and put an acorn nut on it.
2. Using a bench grinder or dremmel, grind down two sides, opposite of each other until the nut will fit inside the 4th gen cable. Don't take off too much, you'll want it to be snug.
3. Test fit the rod/nut in the cable and look to see roughly where the detent is in the cam in relation to the rod end.
4. Go back to the bench grind and grind a detent into the rod. It doesn't have to be exact. The 4th gen cable can be adjusted at the end.
5. Once you have the rod ground test fit the assembly and run the blend door **** back and forth a few times to make sure everything works.
6. Remove the rod/nut assembly and apply a small amount of thread locker to the acorn nut to ensure it doesn't come loose. Also apply a drop on the other end of the rod and insert it into the blend door cam.
7. While the thread locker is setting you can assemble the rest.
8. Adjust the end of the blend door cable so you have full blend door movement.

Hope this Helps!
