Small pieces of plastic trim by the dash

I took my car apart 15 years ago and have a vague memory of throwing away some small plastic pieces that go by the dash/windshield area.
Am I going crazy or is there something that goes there?

I am making a custom dash but using the stock unit as a skeleton and seeing it test fit in the car got me thinking.

Thanks for any help.

As I can recal lthere are two pieces, one on each side, that are at the bottom of the A- pillars.

I'm not sure if my 1984 Trans Am is the same as your Camaro, but here's a picture of the piece I think you're talking about. These pieces cover the top sheet metal of the door jamb and the dash pad and A-pillar trim go over it.
