Yeah, I imagine they all do but I can confirm 100% that the strong arm ones have it. There’s a little bushing where the strut connects to the hatch that you’ll need to swap over to your new strut.

OK, I just ordered a pair of the 4967 and crossing my fingers that they work for me. My current struts are not strong enough to lift the hatch off the contacts so the auto release just closes it again automatically. PITA!

Be careful with the cheap ones, I got a set a while ago and didn't think anything of it. They had the tabs so they must work, right... Ya no, I hit the button and it blew my 50A ignition prefuse. Turns out they're not properly insulated where it mounts to the body so it's a dead short. I ponied up the $90 for a pair of AC Delco ones with the contacts welded on to the strut like they should be. Haven't installed them yet but they look to be correct.

$15 a piece from Rock Auto.
Do you know if these 4967's would be a good choice for an 86T/A with the rubber aero spoiler?..I wouldn't mind having to give it a push..

Where did you buy them and do you have a part number?

I installed the Delco struts today and the work correctly. The closing effort is not bad and it opens slow enough that it doesn't bounce or anything. The defogger grid works properly now too. You can see the welded tab on the bottom and riveted at the top. The maxpow one is what I originally got that are totally made wrong for this application and shorted the defogger feed.

^^^ good to hear ^^^

I bought a pair of the strong arm 4967 but decided the AC delco looked closer to stock with how the defogger wires attached. Now I have both on the garage shelf but will be installing the Delco ones.

Re: Rear hatch struts that won't launch the glass to outer space

FYI, Strong Arm 4697's come in different "sub" model #"s. Ordered a set off fleabay and recieved 2 different struts.

4967P 28322 T-A is a more powerful version of the strut
4967P 29722 T-A is a less powerful version of the strut.

Needed the weaker ones as the ones I order from Amazonia shoots my hatch to the roof like a rockship.

Re: Rear hatch struts that won't launch the glass to outer space

My 82 T/A has the rear wiper and a wrap around fiberglass spoiler, I used the 4967 struts from rock auto, they are the ones listed for no rear wiper or spoiler they work great so far, the stronger ones I tried not only pushed the hatch lid back but also broke the plastic part where the strut bolts to the hatch on one side so now its loose on that side, does anyone know where I can get that plastic retainer. ?

Order new struts from Sixty Auto. Cheaper than Amazon @$47 for the pair.
The pressure is perfect, opens slow and smooth just as it did when it was new in 88.
