I sent my factory GTA stereo off to Barlosal on the Buick forums (barlosal@aol.com) to get rebuilt and have aux added.
I prefer to keep my cars stock, so just replacing this with an aftermarket unit was not an option for me when this one started trying to eat my cassettes.
I thought I would share for anyone else trying to do the same.
Sent mine to a different place, M&R Electronics in Saginaw, but it looks exactly the same.
They said that with this particular radio, they couldn't just add a jack to the face as they can with a lot of Delco radios. It had to be a pigtail like this. A bit messier, but it works. Someday I should route it through the center console to conceal it.

I was told he could do either, but that was before I sent him my actual radio, so it's possible that wasn't the case once he received the actual radio.
I like the pigtail more personally because it allows me to hide it and maintain complete factory look. Even though it's something small, it would bug me. lol

I feel that aux is more universal and allows more options. I was able to get an aux to bluetooth converter, so I still have a bluetooth option.

well I was on the forum over many years ago .. I talked to you .. I bought my 1984 berlinetta in july 1984 and I still own it .. vehicle runs good 85K miles .. I had to fix the alternator the corrosion I clean up the diodes ...
I have an issue . my HVAC pod has no lamps / lights up and the fans do not turn on. I have the wiring diagram and the fan relay coils do not put the power from the HVAC control panel ... the circuit board is not working ..#16028541 part number .. you do electronic work .. do you have the circuit board schematic ?

ramblingarage, How is that bluetooth receiver still working and have you come up with a better solution to mount the AUX jack? Earlier in the week I sent of my 7 channel cassette player to Barlosal, he said he should be able to get it sent back to me on Monday, lookin forward to getting it back

I haven't yet, it's been about 15 degrees out lately, so with the plastic interiors in these cars I haven't done much touching of anything. That being said I haven't had much testing on the bluetooth receiver, but last I used it, it was working fine.
As for the aux jack, I haven't mounted it yet, I think I like the center console solution because it's out of sight, but I'm going to look around some more as well.
Got my radio back from Tony Barlos today and as expected he got the tape deck working and added the AUX jack. As did OP I wanted it in the center console hidden away. The first hole that’s below where the auxiliary jack is mounted I drilled pretty much centered but that turned out to be to low because of the airbag arming sensor, the shielded cable of the AUX had to be bent out of the way and I wasn’t comfortable with putting any strain on the soldered connections on the AUX. I decided to fill in the hole and redrill a new hole a little higher, as you see it worked out. The soft plastic that center console is wrapped in is just thin enough to use the threaded ring that came on the AUX. On the inside the plastic shell needed a hole big enough, about 9/16”, that the body of the AUX can pass through, there is foam in between the inside hard plastic shell and the outside soft plastic so some of that foam needs to be removed so the AUX can be as close to the backside of the soft plastic, otherwise your not going to get the threaded ring on. The part of yhe AUX that the threaded ring threads onto measured .2243, I used a letter A drill, .2340, for the hole in the soft plastic, I wanted to keep the hole as small as possible otherwise the threaded ring wouldn’t hold the AUX in place. For added measure and because it made me feel better about hopefully making this install last longer I used a sticky back on the top arming sensor and used a wire tie to hold the shielded cable in place, this way when plugging and unplugging the AUX cord it’s just not the threaded ring holding it all together.
