Factory Bilsteins vs Aftermarket

So my factory bilsteins need replacing, and my original plan was to send them to Bilstein to be rebuilt since its only $75each. I was just wondering if the aftermarket Bilsteins for our cars are basically the same as the factory bilsteins? Or is the valving different?
thanks
