Possible electrical issues.
Possible electrical issues.
Hello,
I recently purchased my third gen and i have a question when it comes to electrical components. My first is that the cigarette lighter on the dash works but when I plugged in my cell charger into it the dash the charger popped and let the smoke out. Is that just because I need to redo some wiring for the cig lighter or is something more wrong.

U have a short somewhere or the cell charger is pulling too many amps.

Also make sure the lighter socket is clean, and free from anything metal...I had an old dirty penny jammed in the socket of my T/A, which kept killing my battery.

Under your dash on the drivers side forward and just above the fuse block is an L shaped bracket that holds the dash. Next to it will be a big chunk of harness.
Roll that chunk of harness over, some of the insulation might be rubbed off. I had this issue on my car and a friend had this issue. It’s worth a look.
