Refinishing interior plastic panels (trunk area)

Hi all,

I have some very faded plastic panels in the rear hatch area, and finding replacements is really difficult. They're faded and scratched, so I was wondering if yall know any ways to make them look better. Sanding? Some kind of chemical etch?

I read somewhere that a turpentine and boiled linseed oil mix could reverse some fading, and that helped in some areas, but obviously the severe fading and scratches are still super obvious.

Use the SEM products. They work great. I did mine 3 years ago and they looked pretty beat up. They were charcoal gray and now they're black. I'm really happy w how it came out.

Could you be more specific as to what products of theirs you used? They have a lot of different stuff for sale on their website

The SEM stuff is great. Did my interior panels as well. Looks brand new factory.

I'll add another vote for SEM. Used it for some smaller things on the last car. Had every intention of doing the whole color change from grey to black, but am actually working a deal on an entire black interior, so may not "paint" it. That being said, SEM has always come through well for me. As always, prep prep prep. Follow the instructions. See Firechicken's photo.

I redid my plastics and my kickpods using SEM paint. Went with the graphite color, I think it turned out really well.
I did this years ago, and seems to be holding up pretty well.

I have some interior shots here.

I followed the instructions. There was a cleaner then a primer/adhesion promoter then the paint. It was a few years ago but there was a time frame between products. I think I may have used scotch bright pads or something like that prior to prep. The pics I posted are recent but it's been 3 years since I did it. I've been really happy w it. It's all in the prep like any paint job.

Thanks, now I need to get the outside looking good. Inside looks new(cause it is!). Outside is primer black. I guess it's a step in the right direction. It was 2 different shades of red, white, sections of gloss black and then primer black. At least it's all primer now!!
