82-02 Power Seat Slide Bushings

For those of you with power seats who struggle with play in the seat track slides, I thought I would share what I found that fixed mine.

Out of shear random luck I found a 96 Camaro in the scrap yard with power driver/manual passenger seats that were in great shape (just a little dirty) that happen to be the same light grey interior color as my 85 T/A. I used the carpet cleaner on them and they turned out to be in even better shape than I initially thought. After driving the car around for a few days I noticed the power seat tracks had an unusual amount of play. I pulled the seat out and discovered the slide bushings were crumbling. Reading up on the issue, naturally the parts are not only discontinued but, also not available in the aftermarket that I could find. I ended up finding a seller on eBay who sells high quality reproductions of the original bushings. I picked up a set and installed them last December. The rock/play on the slides is gone and the whole assembly feels like new again.

For those looking for replacement bushings I would recommend these. Here's the link to the listing,

Geez, 45 bucks for 3D printed slides? I hope he's printing them out of something nice, not a cheap PLA or something similar. Then again... I'm sure GM was using the good stuff back in the 80's too...

If they melt in the summer, then the guy cheaped out. If they hold up, all the better!
