85 Trans Am - seat recovering questions

The upholstery of both front seats are shot. Holes in the lower cushion of one and ripped seams on the upper cushion of the other. They need to be recovered or replaced. How easy is it to recover these? I have the cloth interior, no plastic liner on the back part of the upper cushion either if that helps describe the seat. All the videos I've seen show a different type seat than what I have. The bottom may be the same, but the tops are different.

Also, I'd like to add a power seat track on the driver's side. Are these cars max-wired? I'd hate to cut up a harness to get power to a seat. I'd prefer plug-n-play.

Thanks

The power seats are easy and just plug and play.
after installing the power track on the seat you cut a small slit in the carpet and run two wires through.
screw the ground to one of the channels that have the seat studs and then run the power wire to under the door sill into the wire channels then forward. It plugs into a block that is behind the kick panel and up a little bit

That's the style, except for color, I have the dark gray inserts in the lighter gray seat (I love the red and gray combo you have). Did you recover yours?

I've requested the Classic Industries catalog to see the color options they have as their website doesn't show much. We want to change the seat color to match the black headliner and other fabric parts that have been recovered in black. We were looking to do gray inserts with black seats.

Yes I recovered them last year, not hard to do,just hard on the hands.85-86 used the Pallax Material with the Graphite inserts.Classics Graphite is a little darker but they'll take a longer time to Fad,I'm very satisfied with them,I highly recommend them.
When you get the catalog, they have what your looking for
Good Luck.

How do the tops secure? I remember seeing what looks like a zipper.

No, sorry. I meant the upper cushion of the seat. I saw what looks like a zipper poking out of the top of the rear seat.

Not a zipper, it's 2 interlocking plastic u shaped channels. Seat bottom is secured with hog rings.

The seat backs have a zipper on the bottom of each of them, along with hog rings.Just unzip and remove the hog rings and slide the backs off, sounds easy, but it's hard on the hands(they are tight fitting)
