I see Hawk's has a "New GM" upper console. It's described as including the cut outlines for the switches, like the reproductions have. I don't remember my original top having these when I cut the holes in mine.
Is it really GM/NOS?
They also have a repo one for $10 less. It seems like the "GM" one would go for way more.
I have tons of these OEM in decent used condition. Depending on which style you need. I have ones with no switches, 1 switch, 2 switches, and I think I have one or two with the clock cut out. They will all need new armrests, but I can ship them as just a bare upper console. I also have the carpeted section in black, red, grey and tan. Just dropping this in case you would be interested in used OEM parts.

I might be interested! I need a three-switch with no clock.
The only reason I am looking at a new one is that mine is decent condition, but has scratches, wear, etc. The textured switch area isn't all that great and I cut out the holes a little big and the switches move around a lot. I though about grafting in a piece. I would also have to sand the scratches and then shoot some satin black. The console is a high-wear area and I'm concerned the paint would start to chip and wear off. I suppose I could use a 2K product. That would be tougher than a rattle can.
The step or bump (arrow) on the glove box is for the spring on the later "ratchet" style e-brake handles. The spring is all the way to the right and gm could've just added a bump on the corner, but whatever. The early type i believe the spring was mounted differently. So the step is not necessary. That said, i modified the spring mounting on my 89, so i could use my 84 upper console.

Well dang. I've had an '89 and a pair of 92's. Shows how often I look in the console, lol.
I only noticed it was different when I tried to put the console top on. Can't see why GM put the step all the way across. That space is rather limited to start with.
Well, I decided to get an NOS upper console. I didn't want to experiment with the repro units.
Now, I need to cut out the switch holes. I did this on my original years ago but it was a little sloppy in the fit department.
Can anybody provide a photo of the cutouts on a factory console looking straight down?
Here you go.... couldnt ask for better. Sorry i dropped the ball about sending you my consoles. I have a feeling you are chasing perfection, and my consoles are all used, so they probably wouldn't have fit the bill.

Years ago, consoles like yours were hard to find. So many of them either had holes drilled into them, or the e-brake handle grommet was gone or torn.
