I finally got my interior in my car. And I've noticed my carpet is pretty faded in spot, and my seats are also.
Dupli-color makes a vinyl and fabric spray paint. Anyone have experience with it?
Also, my car is black outside, the carpet and interior plastics are black. But, my seats look blue. Is that normal? Or have they faded that badly?
This suggestion will take u back to your mother.
I use RIT Dye to dye a new carpet for my 1972 Buick GS.
The seller of the GS gave me a new carpet but it was Blue, so he never installed.
I use RIT to dye it black.
Never any fade or washout in 21 years.
U will have to remove your carpet to do the dyeing.
Our car had sun fading on the top edge of the back seat as the cargo cover had only protected the hatch area from sun bleaching.
The previous owner had sent me a bottle of Ritt fabric dye and I applied 4 coats with little improvement. Note the fabric was still wet when this photo was taken and it dried a lighter color.
I picked up some Tulip fabric paint and tried it with great success. 1st coat.
2nd coat.
Its been a couple of years and the fabric paint has stood up very well with no fading.
I've used RIT dye before on my old G-bodies in high school. But today... I present you with the duplicolor fabric & vinyl spray!
Honestly worked great. I bought a can of flat black, and a can of gloss. Honestly I would just buy the gloss... You can't tell it on fabric or carpet, and if you have the vinyl piping on your seats it still makes it look like vinyl. Also if you get a little on your plastic trim it matches pretty good.
Had good results with rit dye on cloth seats. Recently i tried duplicolor vinyl/fabric spray on a sleigh bed that turned out great. This was semi gloss on faux leather. Used the leftover on my rear seatback and its holding up great so far..
