Re: Wtb lsx headers
We just missed a group buy on them from hawks. I'm thinking about picking some up also while I got the money. Maybe if a few of us get together we can talk to Jeni about a group buy?!

Re: Wtb lsx headers
in the group buy section it says 1 3/4pri x 3" collector $755+40 if you get their hardware..1 5/8 x 3"were $499 if 10 people or less, $449 for 11 or more plus the hardware...i didn't see how many ordered though
Re: Wtb lsx headers
We had tons of orders for the header GP, same with the trans x-member they sell. I have both in the mail. 1 5/8 headers and the T56 LT x-member. PM Jeni @ Hawks and see if you can get the discount.

Re: Wtb lsx headers
I just got a swap crossmember for 99 and 1 3/4 headers with 3" collector for 799 plus 10 shipping. This was only about 2-3 weeks ago so email Jeni to see what she can do.

Be sure to measure the headers you get from them. They're known for switching the shipment and hoping the buyer doesnt notice
Also, they list them as SSW. Most arent

2. If the headers are not Stainless Works, then who makes them? I want cheaper headers that fit our cars.

Re: Wtb lsx headers
I believe there's lsx swap headers that are being sold on eBay 1 5/8 which arent Ssw they look like regular headers that are just ceramic coated.
Ill be in the market for regular non coated 1 3/4 headers I missed out on Tgo member ace who just sold his set. I bought his double hump tranny member..
Twns roc i might end up keeping them. cats are off actually. Are you doin a ls swap on your 3G?

Re: Wtb lsx headers
I thought Pocket was talking about Hawks Thirdgen. My question is, if the long tube headers that Hawks sells are not made by Stainless Works then who does make them? I'm curious because that means there are two suppliers out there and an opportunity for less expensive long tube headers for LSx thirdgens.
I don't want shorties or peewee sized 5/8" headers from eBay.

Re: Wtb lsx headers
Read my rant about them in the conversion forum
They're polished stainless made in china. I even compared them to a $300 set of stainless headers admittedly made in china. Easy way to spot the knock-offs vs real are knock-offs are always polished. SSW is natural finish

Re: Wtb lsx headers
My knock-offs came in a box that say American Racing Headers, but that doesn't mean for sure that's who made the headers. They could've been just shipped in the box.
I have no problem having "cheaper" headers but I certainly don't want to be stuck with the 1 5/8" primaries that are currently on the car. I'd take another cheap set in the correct size and get them ceramic coated.

Re: Wtb lsx headers
So after I read this post I went and checked my headers and found them to be 1 5/8 primaries even though I was sold 1 3/4 headers. I just called and left a message for BJ to call me so I will see what happens. On my hand written reciept from Jeni it says 1 3/4 with a 3" collector, but on the typed up one it says 1 5/8 with a 3" collectorfor 799 come on does no one check their work and prices. I checked them with a pair of calipers and they all came out to 1.625 or less meaning they are not the ones I paid for. I already threw the box out but they were never installed so I am now waiting to hear from them. I will post my results in here once I hear from hawks. ricky

Re: Wtb lsx headers
Bruce said he'd have a real set of 1 3/4" in the polished (non SSW) soon, and to check back with him in a month. This was about 3-4 weeks ago. As of right now I haven't checked back with him because I'm getting close to some out of town shows and will not be able to swap headers at the moment, so I'll probably check back next month or something.

Re: Wtb lsx headers
Ok I had a few emails yesterday from Jeni and this morning she said she talked to Bruce and BJ and they are going to send out the correct nonpolished Stainless Works 1 3/4 headers with a 3" collector and a return shipping label so I am out nothing. She was very appologetic and said it was a shipping error. To me this is great customer service and I will update in a few days when I get the new headers with pictures of both sets. I am happy that I found this post and that Hawks stood up and are fixing their mistake. I am sure if others have problems they need to email or call and talk to them as I have had a great experience in what could have become a bad one. ricky

Re: Wtb lsx headers
So help me get this straight. It's only the 1-5/8 inch headers that are the Chinese supplier? The 1-3/4 and 2 inch headers are Stainless Works, right? Prices on the website reflect that idea.

Re: Wtb lsx headers
Even if they are made in China and are "cheap" doesn't mean you'll be able to buy them cheaply. The polished 1 5/8" are only like $150 cheaper than the cheapest SSW set.
Re: Wtb lsx headers
I spoke to Taiwan company that makes the 4th gen and 5th gen headers that sell for $250 on ebay and they said they could make ANY LSx headers. Only problem is that they needed a minimum of 100 units according to management. I don't think there is enough demand for 100 sets on TGO. This is just one of many manufactures, I'm sure there is a company with a lower minimum requirement.

Re: Wtb lsx headers
Well,
I bought the 1 3/4 from hawks, I will be measuring mine tonight! They better not be 1 5/8!
I didn't know there was a problem with selling-shipping error to worry about!!!!!!!!
I have not installed mine yet either........
