its not even that.
the lobe profile is so timid that it gives far less power gains then a identical duration, identical LSA, identical lift aftermarket cam.
it has a meaner idle to it, but thats about it. you toss that cam in a LS1, and you wont see anywhere near the gains that even a mild 218 comp cam grind will give you... the LS1 has these nice huge cam lobe base circles, you can make some really aggressive cam profiles and get alot of power out of a tiny cam... the valvetrain problems were worked out from the inital design.. toss some beehive 918s in, and you can run a XR lobe 224 cam for over 90,000 miles...
the GM hotcam for the LS1 is just a poor choice.. i mean, its better then stock, but you can get a cleaner idle, and more power from other cams... for a thirdgen comparison, it would be like recommending a L98 cam for a L03... sure its better.... but getting a different cam would work better in every way.

Mr. Dude- Why you say the hotcam sucks?

i also keep track of my MPG, oil changes, misc maintenance, ect....
btw, in my defence for the slips above... the clutch hydraulics suck. it'll improve with the mcleod clutch master... oh, and traction.. lol traction SUCKED on all of thoes runs.
edit: fixed spacing. didnt notice it was off yesterday

thoes all over the place ETs to be exactly what you should expect with a stock LS1 in a thirdgen with street tires and zero traction mods.... lol
the Dorchester runs on the 6th had bridgestone potenzas... on the lowcountry dragway runs on the 8th, i put KDWs on.... i had gotten a nail in one of the potenzas, and i couldnt plug it, so i just swapped both tires to the old KDWs

Mr. Dude, Your time slips pretty much confirm why I have so much fun with LS1's at the 1/8 mile tracks. Most of the guys there are pretty ticked when a 84 model land yaht beats them to the 1/8. I run pretty consistant 8.80's but at only 78 mph. What those guys don't know is how bad the LS1's pull on me at the 1/4 mile tracks. It's somthin crazy how fast they come by you just past the 1/8 th. I can't wait to get a LS1 in my car, if I can keep it hooking like it does and just add the top end pull I'll have a pretty quick car.

The first tank I put in the LT1 I drove the fool out of it and still got 26MPG
I have a buddy with a 98 TA that's putting 430 at the wheels down (no juice) with 4.10's in a 12 bolt that gets 27 on the interstate.

first couple tanks when i was babying it (new install, didnt want to break it yet.) i got high 20s... one hwy trip netted me 30!! i freaked when i saw that.. lol
for the way im driving it, and the amount of traffic i go thru everyday, im pretty happy with it. im sure MPG will increase some after i change the plugs, and uncork the exhaust some... but i dont expect it much higher then low 20s/ high teens no matter what.
on roadtrips though, the gas milage goes way up.
