LT1 alternator help?

Got it running, but now no charging. I searched and read this post alternator post along with a few others but still nothing. I only have 1 small red wire comming off the alternator plug(plus the big res that does to the battery). I connected it to the BRN in F8 of my C100 bulkhead conector...nothing. Then I tried connecting it straight to the battery...nothing. Then I tried connecting it to the red in A in the C220...nothing. Then I tried connecting the A(RED) and the Alternator plug RED together and touching them to the battery...It charges for a second then stops, and won't charge again unless i shut the key off and restart it(like a breaker is tripping) What am I doing wrong? What needs to go where to make it charge? Thanks.
