VSS signals to feed to the LT1 PCM
My LT1 swap's getting close to done, and it's time to put the VSS issue to bed. I have a '94 LT1 and computer, mated to a T5. Since the LT1 PCM expects a 17 pulse per revolution signal, I made a reluctor wheel that fits on the T5's output shaft where the speedo drive gear used to be. However, this leaves the issue of what to do for a sensor; the easiest installation by far would be to drill and tap the tailhousing for a generic Hall effect sensor that I already have on hand.
I know the PCM is designed to get a sine wave signal from a variable reluctance sensor; has anyone tried giving it a square wave, 0 volts when the sensor sees a tooth and 5V/12V/whatever when it doesn't? I have no idea what kind of input buffer GM put in there, or what voltages it can work with. Any experience would be helpful.

Doesnt the factory GM electronic VSS(non-gear driven) slide right into the tailshaft housing? I know the late 4l60-E VSS from my '94 Camaro fit in the same hole as the gear driven one from my '91 700R4.

Interesting...I don't have a 4th gen sensor to try it with though. I seem to remember the 700R4 I pulled out had a different configuration for the hole than the T5; unfortunately, I don't have it around anymore to compare.
Edit: from other posts I looked at, it seems that auto and manual VSS mountings are in fact quite different. And the T56 has an entirely different mounting from the T5.
