LS1 finally 99% done.
Just a few finished pics. Took forever on the ram-air box. Its part old radiator cover, part RAII hood kit, and part LS1 whisper lid. A bunch of fiberglass later it's finished.
The fuel rail covers will be smoothed and painted body color, I surprisingly only had to trim a bit by the throttle cables. I might get a new one as I didn't need to trim as much as I did.
Be sure to notice the 4th gen cruise, overflow, washer tank, and wiring..
Still need to get AC hoses done. I really didn't enjoy ripping a big hole in the RA1 hood, but there's a wide open path to the filter now. There's foam on the hood that seals the back side from engine air.

Watch out! I think you are dangerously close to having a car that has a majority of 4th Gen parts.

How did you do the fuel tank and pressure regulator? I want to get the LS1 plastic tank but I want to run it like the LS1 on my gen 1 miniram. Basically I want to eliminate the return line.

what did you do with the brake lines? are you using the stock 3rd gen brake cylinder? how many lines did you run? 2 for the front and 1 for the back?

*As for ruining a rare car... I know how you feel. My '91 GTA was originally a 305TPI/5spd/hardtop car... pretty damn rare. With all the miles on it though I'm sure the value would've been hurt. Oh well, I'm building it into what I want and its never leaving my family!

Nice job! This is by far one of the cleanest swaps I've seen. I was contemplating on a swap in my 88 Formula, but I took the cheaper route :-D (As noted on below) . To date, how much have you sunk into the swap, including price of the LS1?

I part cars on the side and kept what I needed from one of them. This includes selling things I didn't need from the 92 as well. Now the interior side of things will more then make up for it though.

Nice setup man!!! That thing is wicked clean. I might be doing the ram air thing later on but for now I am sticking to my custom (lol) cold air intake. Yours would probably be a little better but right now I'm broke and a new hood isn't that high on the priority list

Thats really cool with what you did on the intake. I have a feeling that the unit you made could be used on LT1 swaps as well as factory motors. I would like to have a setup like your eventually, but for the time being I am interested in making an intake like yours for my 350 TPI motor and use one of the ram air ones.

Shroom, what is this a pic of, i believe i am missing this although i have 3 boxes of stuff sitting here so maybe i just over looked it. any help would be great, thanks

That's the under hood fuse panel / relay boxes. It's on the body side harness, so if you just purchased an engine combo, you shouldn't have it.
It's not needed at all for the LS1 swap, just needed when using the full 4th gen wiring.

hey Shr00m or anyone else doing or done with the LS1 swap, did you put in the 4th gen engine harness before dropping the engine in? i ask because i got nothign to do until my damn k-member gets done. Wondering if it would be easier to do now or later?

The engine harness is best left on the engine. It's pretty easy to drop it in all together (or attach it to the crossmember and drop the car on it like I did.)

Yeah the interior harness is kind of useless without the body harness. The make a 'triangle' connection. Engine connects to the the body harness, body connects to the interior, interior then connects back to the engine harness.
If you're swapping the dash over and don't feel like getting a body harness, your best bet is to get the engine in and running witout worrying about gauges. Then swap the dash over and hook the 4th gen gauges up to the 4th gen engine harness.
I've got a spare body harness off a 99TA, PM me if you're interested. Very few pigtails cut off of it.

Damn Shr00m, every time I see your engine bay pics I have to double take because it looks so much like mine.

Thats pretty much was i was banking on doing shroom.. for the next few months i'm gonna swap the motor & tranny in, get that done and situated, then over the next winter i will do the interior swap, i got a great deal on all these parts so i grabbed it, took the leather interior and everything.. So for now i'm gonna just concentrate on the motor/tranny stuff, that'll be enough work for this season
