LS1 02 sensor question
HI:
I will be picking up my '84 T/A from the exhaust shop tomorrow and they have it about all set but they did not install the 02 sensors because they did not know which ones went where. They said that on many cars there are differences between the front and rear 02 sensors.
Is this the case with the ls1 engine? are the 02 sensors specific for the front and rear? or does it not matter? If they are, how do I tell which ones go in front?
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-BV

i remember the dealer asking me what O2 sensor i was replacing on my 97 subruban.... I was like huh?? I thought they were all the same. But the rears and fronts are different. Should be the same for the camaro??? Im not sure cause i think the LS1 O2 sensor connector are the same....WTF

the rears have a longer wire feed and read a tad diffrent since they are farther back. Are you running LT's or just exhuast manifolds, if you have LT's just stick rears in teh front since the headers bring the 02 farther back.

cool, thank you!
for now the exhaust is stock (02 manifolds, 02 engine) and the wiring was sent to speartech, but he probably didn't alter the 02 wiring length.
thank you for your help!!

then you just need 2 front o2's and 2 rear o2's. That or you can just delete the rear o2's with the comp and not even run them. They are just there to make sure the cats are working.

front O2s are for fueling.
the ONLY reason the rear O2s exist is to check if the catalytic converter is functioning properly.
if this is a non-emissions swap, delete the rear O2s in the PCM, or run O2 sims.
as far as function goes... it doesnt matter what O2s you use, front, rear, or corvette.... they all have the same switch point.
most guys running longtubes run bosch 3111 O2s.... they're intended for the corvette, and have a more powerful heating element.. perfect for the cooler exhaust temps of longtubes.

I went with two O2's in front and then deleted the last two with HP tuners or you can get the O sims.
