LT1 will start and run. BUT LIKE CRAP

Got the Lt1 all rebuilt. New MSD cap/rtr Wires Ac plugs coil control module. Fuel Pressure is good. I have had Ion reprogram the computer. I also have put the hot cam kit in it. It will start not very well run like crap it won't Idle, half to push the acc. to keep it running. I have checked the wires four diffrent times. It's like plug wires are crossed. ???? when you go to gas it, it pings just slightly. I've checked the voltahe for the MAF, TPS is working correctly .68 Volts @ 0 4.64 Volts @ 100% no codes are there. LT4 Knock sensor. I've been messing with this thing the past few days and can't figure out what the H*** is going wrong Please HELP !!!!!!!!!

Today I backed off the rockers a quarter of a turn Still the same. I'm going to get a volt meeter and get some sensors from my work and see that the heck happens. Will if run like crap if there isn't a full 12 volts to the contril module I've been runing things through my mind all day I just don't know.

Not bad, i've been messing with mine for about 8 months and still can't figure out why it has knock retard.

Having trouble starting. Clean the MAF with iso alcohol and a q tip. Whats the connector to the MAP sensor look like? Usually the connector tab breaks off and can give a weird reading. Replace the connector if so.

Try unplugging the MAF and see how it runs.

Got a scanner program like datamaster hooked up to it to see whats going on? Got a computer and cable to plug into the data port? If you can get a scanner program on it to see what all the sensors are doing, should be able to narrow it down somewhat.

Checked for leaky injectors and checked fuel pressure?

You can get by for a while on the MAP connector by using a zip tie to hold it in place, if you are unsure the broken plug tabs are causing problems.

Firebat Here's my post from yesterday. didnt want to type it again.

If you read in my last post I've been having starting problems.
Well I found out the knock sensor for a 96 lt4 Engine code 5 vette will not work with my setup put one for a 95 back in the car hesitantly started and ran I was jumping for joy but then i accidently pulled my FPump wire loose and of course it died. the car ran for about 10 min. Cool. I thought. when it was runing the MAF was off ????? so I put it back on the car wouldn't Idle. Took it back off now it wont start I chanded my Control Module. No fire out of the coil. The fuel pump is hooked back up and has plenty of pressure. all the car will do know is turn over. PLEASE HELP ME. I'm about to pull my hair out.

By MAF off - i mean disconnecting the connector for it or removing it from the car.

Have no spark? Try this test with a multimeter/voltmeter - 4th Gen LT1 F-body Tech Articles

Note: give the website time to load

Firebat thanks a million Couldn't have done it without you. The car lives. The Harness going to the opti, all four wires outter sheething were gone and they were touching each other. I taped them up just to see and it fired right up. but I still have a problem with the Maf. When On the car and pluged in the car will die but wile on the gas it will run. unplug the maf and it will Idle. Idle's high, and runs rich as HE// but it runs so I've probably got un metered air going into the intake I'm going to tighten up all my bolts ant etc and see what happens.

Is the LT1 black plastic elbow that attaches to the throttle body and the maf in good shape?

And how high is high idle?

THe Plastic on the elbows are new. I made a tb gasket and i think that might be the culprate. I don't know how high the idle is i don't have a scanner hooked up to it and don't have my tach back in it i'm going to put a correct gasket back on it and see what happens and go arount and tighten up all my bolts.
