Mike I think the cable that you have is he one that comes with a car that is equipped with the traction control. You need to get one that isnt for the traction control. You can get one at the dealer for about $20. Good Luck

I've been doing some searching, and i found exactly what you said, that the cable that i have is for a traction control car. I also found that i can use the Lokar LS1 cable which i didnt realize exsisted.. Part # 1000LS1, so i am going to go that route, it looks really good as well.

I will probly have to make some adjustments in the computer for this right?

thanks agian,
Mike

no computer adjustments needed..

although id reccomend the stock one over the lokar one.... i think the lokar end fittings look like crap... and it stands out.... the stock one looks like it belongs there...

btw, you can also feed the stocker under the fuel rail crossover, so it doesnt stick up... you dont notice it on 4thgens because the cowl covers it, but it sticks up high otherwise.

Instead of bending the pedal you can just tie a knot in the end of the cable.

hmm intersting.. well tomorrow i'll try to mock up the stock cable in the car, see how things look and fit. So is it right that the stock 01 will fit even tho it has traction control? I guess it will if some are saying they have used it.. I will see what i can do with it, thanks for the reply's

I was always told the one without traction control was the one you wanted.

Hey guys... The stock cable for a non-traction control car works great. I do have a related question that might help the original poster out as well. The hole in the firewall of the 4th gen is more of a small square... The one in the 3rd gen, atleast my 87, was a bigger rectangle. What did everyone do that??? I was thinking about adding metal, then cutting a new hole. Or cutting out the 4th gen area, and welding it in. But that sounds like more work than I need to do. I dont want the connection there to be sloppy..

Any info/ideas??

Thanks!

Justin

oh yea, i forgot it was alittle long.. its been awhile.

you can also put a couple zip ties on the end of it and space it out that way.

I think all I did was add a grommit to clean the firewall up and then added a small zip tie under the tabs to flare them out enough to grab.

Thanks Kevin. Thats a good idea. Arent ZIP ties great?? haha. I started painting in the engine bay last night...and was trying to figure out what to do with the cable. Wow what a difference some paint makes. Im not gonig crazy on it either. Basically cleaning, scuffing, spraying. Half of the bay looks brand new anyway! Thanks for the advice!
