LSx A/C pictures
Does anybody have pictures of the f-body motorsports (or similar) LSx A/C bracket from the top, rear, and side of the compressor? I want to see if there might be enough clearance to move it closer to the engine so I can use Vette P/S and alt. brackets.
Thanks

Here you go. This is the A/C bracket from Fbody motorsports. I had to add a shim(fairly skinny washer) to the lower left mount to the engine. In a few of the pics you can see what happend when I didn't have the shim in there, the belt would ride up on the A/C pulley.

Thanks for the pictures. It looks like I can use that bracket with the Vette stuff as long as I use a Vette tensioner and no/less spacers. Can you see anything that the compressor might/would hit if you moved it back?

Probably without the spacers. If it can then I know what range I have to work in. I'm getting conflicting info on how the pulley offset between the two differs.

the main problems i had were that the holes werent drilled straight, the directions , now thats a nother thing, it would seem if they are selling this bracket to the masses they would atleast have printed directions. Daniel, all i know is your car runs great, owen got tunning on it and man that thing flies. I got the bracket and ac stuff on yesterday. and I think you will be happy when you drive it sunday. p.s. everyone on this thread talking about this bracket system, I had to try 5 different belts from oreilly to find the correct one, the belt that was sent from f-body does not fit a stock ls1 underdrive, i think they should tell when yall order it that it doesnt or atleast it didnt fit daniels car, atleast a inch too short
----------
lets just say i had problems and it turned a 20 minute project into 4 hours

Looks like the spacers are just under an inch. There is nothing from the third gen even remotely near that area except for the AC. Maybe the bolts on the back of the AC compressor that hold it to the backet could get in the way?

Like I said before, I had to add a shim on mine or the belt would start to walk off the AC compressor (pics earlier in thread)

Other than the shoddy instructions, wrong sized blets, and having to shim it, is the part worth better than the frustration from the other methods? Would you go this route if you had it to do again?

Ok, thanks. I didn't want to bug you, but I figured I as someone who has one.
Have you had any trouble with the part since it was installed? I mean, any slipping belts or breaking parts?

after trying 2 or 3 belts , we had 3 people , yes i said 3 people help to get the belt that came with the kit on it. That setup seriously has no room for error

If I were doing it again I would use a 4th gen A/C system rather than the third gen. I am using the belt that came with the kit, the only thing we had to do was find the right size shim and the right position. I get a little belt slap if you go WOT from low RPM due to the high tension buildup, but once the shim was put in there I have not had a belt come off at all (so far). Oh and the kit belt fits fine for me, I can put it on by myself fairly easily.
Another problem not mentioned in here is my car is an '83, the FBodymotorsports kit is designed for 88-92 models so I ended up buying an A/C unit from them for $100. So the total cost for me was $400. That is not documented anywhere except for right here. I had to call them to find this out. I suggested they add it to the webpage, but they never have.
